Caring for Our Own

On Missions Sunday last August, the Daystar family launched a powerful initiative to sponsor 200 children living in Itara, Uganda—an impoverished community where one meal a day is sometimes the best nutrition families can provide for their children.

Light Academy is the school where nearly 400 children gather each day to learn, grow, and be nurtured. Among them are 67 orphaned students who have no home to return to at night and who sleep on the floor of the church. Because of the generosity of one Daystar family, those dirt floors were cemented last year, providing these children with a dry, safe place to rest. No longer do they have to lay their small bodies on muddy ground each night.

We are also thrilled to share that—thanks to your faithfulness—we reached our goal. Two hundred new students at Light Academy now have sponsors, doubling the level of support we are able to provide for their essential, economic, and educational needs.

It is truly an honor to belong to a church family that never ceases to care for its own—and to reflect the love of Christ to the most vulnerable among us.

P.S. If you missed your chance to sponsor a child, you can find your match at one30.org.
